On foot
Vienna Christmas market walking tour
The most-booked Vienna Christmas market walking tour covers Spittelberg, the MuseumsQuartier courtyards and Rathausplatz in about 2.5 hours, with hot punch (non-alcoholic on request) and a traditional Christmas treat, in a group of up to 16. It walks about 2 km and runs rain or shine; it is not suitable for wheelchair users. From 71 €, ★ 4.1 (109).
Afternoon departures reach Rathausplatz around dusk, when City Hall and the trees are lit. Guests mention that the guide points out other markets to come back to the next day — useful if you have two or three evenings. In rain the route stays the same; one December reviewer with a bad leg wrote that the pace was manageable.
Vienna Christmas market walking tour with a local
Two smaller walks are run by individual locals. The Christmas-tree walk (2 h, from 69 €, ★ 4.6 (7)) starts at the Ankeruhr clock on Hoher Markt, tells the history of Vienna’s Christmas tree and includes food and drinks; the 1-hour market walk (from 139 €, max. 8) meets on Rathausplatz and adapts its stops to the group.
Andreas was a great tour guide! He knew so much about the markets and suggested others which we went to the next day. He so knew facts about Vienna which were very helpful as we visited other venues. I highly recommend this tour during the holidays!!

Vienna Christmas market food tour
The Vienna Christmas market food tour visits four of the city’s lesser-known Christmas markets in about 4 hours, with tastings of traditional Austrian winter food and warm drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. It moves between markets by tram and metro, so you also learn the public transport. It is the best-rated tour here: ★ 5.0 (14), from 125 €.
We really enjoyed this tour as we went to less crowded yet very interesting Christmas markets. We got to drink something warm yet festive to beat the cold. We also enjoyed both savory and sweet treats. We, likewise, appreciate the stories he shared about the food and the culture. Overall, we left the tour with a happy tummy and memorable moments with the rest of the tour group.

Vienna Christmas market and classical concert tours
The most reviewed Vienna Christmas market tour is really an evening out: a food voucher for the Schönbrunn Christmas market (a mug, a hot drink and a dish) plus a classical concert in the Schönbrunn Orangery. There is no fixed time for the market; the concert starts at a fixed hour, so leave time to walk across the palace grounds. ★ 4.4 (123), from 84 €.

Private Vienna Christmas market tour, bus or vintage car
For a Vienna Christmas market tour without the walking, the electric double-decker bus leaves Albertinaplatz at 16:30 for about 3 hours, with a guided visit to the Schönbrunn market and entry to the Imperial Lights (★ 4.2 (78), from 44 €). For just your group there are vintage-car tours and a private guide, all new this season with no reviews yet.
Private Vienna Christmas market tour by vintage car
Two vintage-car tours drive open electric cars past the lit markets and landmarks, with blankets provided: the private Christmas markets tour above stops at markets you choose, and the winter lights tour by e-oldtimer (1–1.5 h, from 39 €) leaves from Philharmonikerstraße near the Opera. Both are open-air, so dress for the cold.
Honest verdict
Is a Vienna Christmas market tour worth it?
A Vienna Christmas market tour is worth it when time is short or the evening is cold: in 2.5–4 hours you see three or four markets, taste what to order and hear why it is there. If you are staying in the inner city for several days, you can walk the same markets for free and spend the tour price on Punsch.

What guests say
Vienna Christmas market tour reviews
Reviews of Vienna Christmas market tours praise the guides and the tastings and warn about two things: the cold and wet on walking tours, and timing on the Schönbrunn concert combos. Quoted unedited from GetYourGuide, including a four-star review.

The most I liked the tour guide’s professionalism- he was very knowledgeable and provided us with such a meaningful experience that we were able to understand the different cultures, the different foods and customs that are used at different occasions. James was excellent! We also had the chance to learn how to use the public transportation. We’d suggest that he’d be provided with a transportation mean so the guests will have more time in the markets. Also, people with some health restrictions would be able to get the most out of this experience!

Raining and cold, but we had a good time anyway, The guide made it as pleasant for us all as possible considering the weather was not helping. Saw some great things went back the day after to go further when the weather was better. Great guide, did all she could for us over the whole walk. I had issues with a bad leg and it was not too much for me so just about anyone should enjoy the time.

NB!! It says start at 7 p.m., but that is the start of the palace tour. therefore missed the Christmas market (no longer open after the tour). The orangery, where your tickets are located, is on the left when you stand in front of the main entrance. DO NOT enter through the main gate but walk outside the palace wall! 500 meters something like that, green door with orangery written on the side. tour and concert very nice! worth it.
